It wasn’t very often that Rose woke up before her alarm went off, but when she did it always seemed to be on the days that she didn’t actually need to be awake… and today was no different. Yawning, she rolled over onto her side and glanced at her alarm clock, attempting to blink the sleep from her eyes as she attempted to associate an actual time with the bright red numbers on the clock. A few more blinks and it was easy to see that her alarm wasn’t going to go off for another half hour… but she was already awake, so there really wasn’t any point in going back to sleep. The redhead pulled herself up into a sitting position, stretching before standing up and pulling on a pair of ratty pajama shorts and a long knit cardigan over her camisole.
She made her way to the kitchen at a leisurely pace, pausing once to pet one of her cats before continuing on her way. The redhead made herself a quick breakfast of oatmeal with peaches and cream before wandering back to her room to get changed into some real clothes. Once dressed, she grabbed one of her favorite books and headed back out to her small living room, plopping down on the couch and beginning to read. The only thing Rose really had planned for the day was hanging out with Teddy, who was going to drop by sometime during the day, and what better way to pass the time until he got there than by reading!

Only a few days ago, he would have seen Lily off to school for her final year. Almost twice weeks had passed since she had been taken. Someone had kidnapped her only a month after Harry had been killed. The two did not talk or even write to each other since the day that he had told her about Harry's death. She blamed him for not preventing it. The last memory of them was a fight. The owl that he had wished to be their final memory together was not even real. It was the two talking about her going to Hogwarts except it wasn't real. Instead the two were left with a memory of not being on the best of terms. Rose had asked if he would stop over when he had sent a owl to her, asking for them to meet up. Outside of the Potters, Rose was the Weasley that he got along with the best. They were like brother and sister, similar to how his relationship was with the others. Teddy had told her that he could make it later in the day as he had plans for the earlier half of the day. Since Lily had gone missing, he had been going out and looking for her. Anything that could have possibly led him to her, he was doing. James and Scorpius were too caught up bickering that their searches appeared to lack the effort that Teddy expected to see more out of James.
Despite them not leaving things on the best of terms, he was still looking for her. To anyone, it would have appeared as an obsession. That he had to find her. Some nights, he didn't even sleep since he was out looking for her. Out of the Potters, he considered Lily to be the one that he got along best with. Their age difference was bigger than a lot of the other Weasleys and Potters though they had always gotten along. It also made sense that he got along with her best since her and Rose were real close. He arrived at Rose's place, much later than he intended. In fact, it was the next morning despite him saying that he was to show up the night before. He had written an owl asking her to change the plans to the following day before she had to go into work later in the day. Teddy knocked on the door of her place, waiting for her to answer the door. He expected the temper to show through. It was to be expected when dealing with Molly, Rose, or Lily.

Rose was one of those people that was extremely patient. Maybe it had something to do with growing up in a huge family full of younger children, or even that her mother had always tried to teach her children to be patient, (mainly because he dad took a year and an age to get ready whenever they went out). But whatever the reason, the redhead was usually pretty good at waiting things out… at least until it got to the point where she’d been waiting for an extremely unrealistic amount of time. And unfortunately enough for Teddy, she considered having to wait for almost an entire day before hearing anything for him to be too long a period of time. Scowling down at the piece of parchment, she gave the owl a quick pat on the head before shooing it out the window, the piece of parchment crumpling in her clenched fist. He was so going to get it when he got there.
The next morning, the redhead’s anger had subsided only a tiny bit, and she sat in her living room with a book half-hazardly clutched in her hands as she sat, practically looming over the coffee table as she waited for him to finally get there. As soon as she heard him knock, she was up and off the couch, slipping on one of the floor rugs as she headed to the door. ”Bloody thing…” she muttered under her breath, pausing to straighten the rug before continuing her somewhat frantic pace to the door. Rose took a small moment to compose herself before grasping the door handle and swinging it open, a neutral look settling over her face. ”Hey Teddy… nice of you to make time to see me.” Her tone of voice was light, but her eyes were narrowed and held a slightly menacing look. That was usually how her anger worked; she left subtle barbs in everything she said, waiting for whomever she was angry at to make a mistake and give her a reason to start full out raging. She wasn’t entirely sure how it would work with Teddy… but she figured it was worth a try. If worse came to worse, she could always just start yelling at him without the clear passage. Turning around, she started heading back to the living room, ”Don’t forget to close the door behind you!” She called over her shoulder before settling back down on the couch.

If there was one flaw that one of the eldest children of the Order children had, it was dealing with grief. He was horrible at it. Teddy could have played off being completely fine in front of anyone though deep down he was beating himself up over the situation. It had shown itself when Andromeda had died, it was showing since Harry had been murdered. If anything kept him together entirely, it was the fact that he had a big support system in the Potters and Weasleys. They were all there for him when Andromeda had passed though this time was much different. Everyone had been grieving since Harry had been killed. With the disappearance of Lily, there was a sense of panic amongst some of the family members. Especially the older family members, who had seen so much terror in the years preceding the battle of Hogwarts. With everything falling apart, some people had to wonder what else would happen. For now though, he had one of the three red headed women to deal with. Only three red headed women scared him when they let their temper show.
When she opened the door, she greeted him in a light voice. Since they had known each other since she was a baby, he knew she wasn't pleased at all with him. He said, "Hey Rose" as she started heading to the living room. She called out to him close the door which he did. Following her into the living room, he said, "Before you find a way to rip me apart, I was looking for Lily, thats why I'm very late." Sitting down on the couch, he put his feet up on the coffee table. Teddy knew that it would bother her though he did it on purpose. He liked testing what he could and couldn't do around the women and their tempers. The posture that he held was that he was making himself comfortable by leaning back on the couch with his feet on the coffee table. How long that posture would last? Probably not long.

The past couple of weeks had been extremely hard on the Weasley-Potter family; they were all still trying to wrap their heads around Harry’s death, trying to figure out what exactly they were supposed to do now that he was gone. Her mother and father reacted in an equally as shocked way, just sort of sitting in their living room for days, staring at the empty air in which Harry would’ve normally occupied. It was strange to think that she was never going to see or speak to him again, and the horrible amount of physical pain that she felt upon finding out that he was dead was overwhelming, but also quite terrifying. What if her father was next? Or her mother? Those possibilities were too horrible and upsetting to even consider, and so Rose had continued to hope that it was, (despite all the evidence), an accident. But when Lily was taken, she’d been forced to accept that they weren’t just freak accidents, but planned out plots, all of which seemed to revolve around her family. Everything was starting to fall apart, and it took all of her strength not to outwardly show how much it was destroying her. If she was being completely honest, the redhead had taken on more hours at the store, and multiple commitments in order to keep herself busy and distracted. Inviting Teddy over was one of those distractions, as she’d hoped they’d be able to forget about all the bad things that had happened, and just have a good time… but that idea was knocked off the list of possibilities as soon as she got his owl.
When the redhead answered the door she was fully prepared to put on her little act, momentarily forgetting that Teddy knew how her anger worked, which consequentially meant that he could call her out on it. As soon as he entered her living room, a scowl situated itself on her features as he called her out. ”Did you really expect anything different Teddy?!” Rose asked, crossing her arms over her chest. ”All I would’ve needed was an owl sometime before you were supposed to get here… not fifty billion hours after!” She snapped, her gaze softening slightly as he mentioned Lily. It was almost enough to get her to crack… but as soon as his feet touched her coffee table, she instantly felt another rush of anger course through her body. ”Get your gross feet off my bloody coffee table.” She hissed, standing and attempting to shove his feet off the table. Merlin, he was irritating.

Harry's death had been hard on Teddy considering he had been there. He had seen it happen and felt at times that it was his fault. That he could have prevented it. When Harry had died, Lily had spent the night at his home since it had felt to her that she could see her father anywhere in the family's house. The two had shared a kiss, something that he hadn't told anyone since it wasn't a subject that came up. Grief was affecting the family too much, the news of a kiss would have made the weeks harder on an individual in the family. Victoire. On that night, he had promised that he would have caught the bloody bastard that had killed Harry. He hadn't held up to that promise before more tragedy had struck the family. Lily went missing about a week ago and it was because he hadn't managed to live up to his promise. It was difficult to find someone that you never saw the true identity of. Whoever had killed Harry was either using polyjuice potion or a metamorphmagus. With everything that was going on, he had put finding Lily before anything else. Including allowing it to delay his plans with Rose. Removing his feet from the coffee table, he said, "I couldn't exactly send an owl in the middle of looking for someone. I'm sorry, Rose. It's just been difficult lately." No one said dealing with an older brother figure was easy.

Rose understood that Harry’s death had taken a toll on everyone, and that with Lily’s disappearance; grief had turned to stricken panic. Despite acting as if it had hardly affected her and that she was above caring, she’d been affected quite deeply by both events. Merlin, Harry was practically like a second father to her, and Lily a younger sister! She understood how everyone was feeling… she just had an extremely difficult time expressing that understanding and showing her emotions. But that didn’t change the fact that the redhead thought that if another war was brewing, all they really had left was family. And she’d be damned before she let anyone come between herself and her commitments to that select group, which of course meant she thought the rest of her family ought to do the same.
”Oh yes, because a piece of parchment and one of those stupid muggle pens really weigh a person down.” She snapped, stalking away from him and back towards the adjoining kitchen. the redhead poured herself another cup of coffee, not bothering to ask her guest if he wanted any, before returning to the living room. ”Harry always said that family was important, Teddy. What the hell happened to following that belief?” As soon as the words left her mouth, Rose regretted them. Bringing him up now probably wasn’t going to fix anything… but her temper had once again gotten the best of her. And who was she to fight against the combined Weasley-Granger temper?

When he had said that it was hard for him to send a owl, she had snapped right back at him. Some had to question that if they hadn't grown up together, would they have gotten along? Her temper was perhaps worse than Lily's due to the fact that her mother was Hermione. He said, "I'll stop and write a letter, while someone could potentially hit me with a spell.." The two usually got along though had their disagreements. It was to be expected since things had been a bit chaotic. She had went to the kitchen without asking him, if he wanted anything. Not something that he expected to be asked since she was already mad. When she came back, she brought up the belief of family, something Harry and Andromeda had both instilled in him. Sitting up, he said, "You don't think I'm following that belief by trying to find his daughter?" There was a bit of anger in his voice as he said that, his voice a bit raised. If anyone could have used a time turner, they would have seen a similar scene with Harry and Remus, that had been about the same idea. Teddy had been told about what had happened between his godfather and father, something that had helped him realize that family was important. However, looking for Lily counted as something towards that belief. Perhaps what was making them so argumentative was the fact that the both of them were trying to appear fine.

”You’re a relatively intelligent human being, Teddy. I’m sure it wouldn’t have been all that hard for you to find a few choice minutes to jot a word or two down.” She said, her voice crisp and her scowl deepening as her voice slowly rose. ”Or here’s a novel concept… you could’ve owled me before you left your bloody flat!” By the time she finished speaking, she was yelling, her ears turning a vibrant shade of red, just as her father’s did when he was furious. In her mind, he should’ve known that he wasn’t going to be able to make their meeting, and just owled her explaining why they’d have to change the date. If he’d done that, then it wouldn’t have been such a big deal.
”It doesn’t count if you ignore your other family members in the process!” Rose shot back, aware that her voice contained more hurt than it did anger. Part of the reason she was so upset was because she’d been bottling up almost all her emotions, and this was one of the few opportunities she’d had to really let them all loose. Sure, she felt an ounce or two of guilt that everything was being directed at Teddy, but it was really his fault for being so stupid! At least that’s what she kept telling herself…
