Despite the massive collection of books that he kept tucked away in his classroom and his office, there always seemed to be tomes of interest in the library. He wasn’t entirely sure how the school kept track of all of them, considering he had lost many books over the years out of her personal collection, but he was always amazed at the things he could find. He knew that people probably thought he was a lunatic for the amount of time that he spent with books, but they seemed to be the only real connection he could make. People thought him odd for his obsession and often left him because of his dedication to his work and research. Anyone could have easily said it was a lonely life, but Wes would have instantly waved off that notion. Books were his life and history was his passion. He was perfectly content to be among pages instead of people, though he was always willing to be around people. It was a strange balance in his life, trying to give equal amounts of time to both. Many would say that he didn’t though, giving much more time to books. Only those who took the time to get to know him outside of his work shift would be able to say differently. Still, Wesley often found himself roaming the aisles of books, just like he was doing at the moment. They were older friends than most people could boast with him, and he felt comfort among their pages. Not to mention the fact that he was still working on a new history book, meaning lots of time put into research which was the reason he was in the library at the present time. note: he's still a WIP in my mind, so let me get used to writing with him please. xD

Pursing her lips, Emmaline made her way into an aisle, putting books away as she went. It was a universal truth that she spent too much time surrounded by books. Even when she was still in school, her friends would joke about how much time she spent in the library. Of course, back then, it was split equally between actually doing homework, or sneaking off to snog. Carrying a small stack of books, Em moved to the next aisle, not surprised by who she saw. Wesley. He usually spent time in the library, but as of late, she had been seeing a lot more of him around. He enjoyed and respected the books like her, but it was obviously nice to have another adult around, as well. Helping students with their homework all day on top of the other duties she was required to do, it could get a bit dull at times. With a small grin on her lips, Emmaline lifted another book up, watching as it levitated to it's place back on the shelf. "Researching a lesson plan? Or history, still?" Emmaline asked softly. While it was true that ancient runes were her specialty, she also knew the library like the back of her hand. Releasing the last book, Em crossed her arms lightly, walking over to him. "There are a couple in the Restricted Section you might want to look at...new-old stock. I received them a couple days ago from Beauxbaton's." Of course, he may not be interested in them at all, but she was certainly excited about them. They were from the 1800s and still looked brand new. It was amazing what magic could really do...preservation of antiquities and all.

Wesley’s eyes trailed over the familiar titles as he walked through the aisle slowly, trying to pinpoint one that he hadn’t look at yet. Or a book that he had looked at but could possibly benefit from looking at again. Honestly, it was quite the tedious task and half the time he wished that he could just have an easily accessibly note of whether or not the book had honestly been useful for him. Which was still problematic in his head, because while a book could be pointless for one topic, it could be wonderful for another. Wes was on the verge of starting a mental debate with himself about picking up titles he knew he had looked through before when her voice broke through his thoughts. He could have kissed her for her perfect timing on the matter. “My students hate me enough for my lesson plans as they are. The last thing I need to do is put more information into them.” A small smile tilted up his lips, making it clear that he meant it as a light joke and an answer that he was here for himself. His smile broadened at the mention of new books that she had received. Honestly, he felt like a nuisance to her half the time with his constant questions and requests to see new materials. So the fact that she was easily offering up the new material sparked a child-like excitement. “Please. And please tell me that there is at least one book in there covering magical creatures.” It was his current topic. Showing the progression of history over magical animals. Probably dull to most but it would be a wealth of knowledge one compiled entirely. “How are you?” Wes asked this quickly, ashamed that he hadn’t led with it. He was comfortable around Emmaline, but that didn’t excuse his lack of manners.

A smile appeared across her lips, laughter reaching her eyes. "I seriously doubt that your students could hate you...the Ravenclaws, at least. The Slytherins may curse your existence. Who knows," she teased. After releasing the last book, she had walked over to him, informing him that a couple new books had come in that he would want to look at. "You'll be happy to hear that they both are. I've been trying to keep an ear out. Follow me?" Emmaline grinned before beginning the walk to the Restricted Section. She had seen a lot of Wesley as of late, not that he was a stranger to the library beforehand. She admired his hunger for knowledge as it was quite similar to her own. His next question caused her to glance over at him. "Things have been a bit hectic lately, but I've been hanging in there. What about you? Everything good?" Conversation with him was easy. Moving the rope aside, she stepped to her left, allowing him to enter before putting it back in place. Walking over to a shelf, her fingers began brushing over the ancient tomes before she located one of the two books, setting it down on a table near her. "This is the first of the two..." she murmured, her eyes bright. She had a feeling that he'd be equally as excited as she was when she first laid eyes on it. It really was a beautiful book. Walking down a different aisle, she located the second one before returning to the table. This time, however, she pulled a chair back gently and sat down. "This one, however, is the oldest of the two. I hope you can understand Latin." She did, of course, because of ancient runes, but this was a history book.

Wesley quirked one brow at her as if to ask whether or not she was serious. When he realized that she was being serious, he actually laughed softly. “You give me far too much credit then for what I do. Most of the students sleep or skip. Including the ravenclaws.” Wes gave her a broad grin before nodding his head, his steps instantly falling in with hers. How had he lucked out on this? Books that were exactly what he was looking for at the moment. Not that he didn’t always have that kind of luck with books. They were about the only thing he did have luck in. “Everything is working out rather well, yes. These books will certainly make things better. Thank you.” He was glad that the two of them were close enough that she knew he treasured the books and that the books would be safe with him. Plus, they both shared that excitement over new books that seemed to be growing rarer these days. Wesley’s eyes widened as she pulled the first of the two books down. He let his eyes follow after her for a brief moment as she went to grab the other tome, but the desire to handle the book in front of him quickly tore his gaze away. Wes let his fingers trail across the cover for a moment before he slowly opened the book, being mindful of the pages and the age of the book. Still, it looked incredible. Like it was new. It was so amazing what magic could do in a situation was this, with something so fragile. “Sadly, my Latin is incredibly basic these days. Which means that I’m going to have to find someone to translate that one for me.” He motioned toward the second book she brought over, never tearing his eyes away from the first. “Em, these are incredible. Absolutely incredible.” Wes shook his head, slowly flipping through the pages.
