Can I say no? will you guys eat me alive? The moment she finished the palm reading, she wonder really what she said. The girl was just analyzing the hand. saying what she was trained to and not taking into account that this was Marc. Big hearted, impossibly caring Marc- who just had trouble showing it sometimes. It was the very stress and anxiety that kept showed that to her. She knew things about him that she's observed over the years, that maybe he wouldn't like to hear, but someday he might ask, and she would know the answer to. She hated that she forgot what she said, but realized that he probably would remember, or just brush it off because she was some mentally incapable wannabe palm reader who tried merely to find something that interested her long enough to actually incorporate the brain that seemed destined only to function in things that dealt with human interaction. She felt, somewhat exposed after her observations. Was that wrong? She wasn't the one under the microscope like he was, and yet, she felt like this was so personal to her. Kalea was more empathetic than she ever thought of herself. And perhaps she was waiting for his temper to strike back because of something she said that was potentially harmful, or too personal that he would push her away. Her eyes flicked to his and the amazement was genuine.
Her heart fluttered, and a smile spread on her face as a rose coloured blush creeped on her freckled face. "Um, I just... observed?" She said bashfully, biting down on her bottom lip entirely modest. "It's really amazing stuff, hand prints are entirely unique, much like finger prints. It's the proof everyone is different." Here she was nerding out to the very things that she loved. He seemed actually impressed and she was not expecting that. But Kay was glad, she made an impression with him, and couldn't help the smile. Maybe he was just being nice, but it was working. Kay couldn't find any falsehood in his wonder. People and personalities show through their exteriors, even in the smallest of ways because it's all one being. Kay just liked being the person to see it. The little things, like the very lock on Marc's head that wouldn't stay with the others. Or the way his presence kept her from over talking, and made her feel safe. How there were certain signs when he started to get agitated. And the way he wrote even screamed his personality. She would recognize his handwriting from any other.
She acted like a wounded dog and felt terrible about it now, thinking she hid it well enough. But apparently not as she heard his change in tone. Kalea usually saw his irritation grow and change into a temper when they spoke about things. Honestly, she thought he'd end up storming out of here to begin with, and yet here he was, backtracking? Kay blinked a few times trying to decipher this change. It wasn't long until a hand was placed on her cheek and her heart began to hammer in her chest. She looked at him, her eyes meeting his and a rose tinted blush peeking out from behind her freckles once again. "You don't have to be sorry," she said, "Besides," She said, working very hard to act normal in this situation. "You know I'll forgive you. Can't get rid of me so easily." She'd forgiven him before she even realizes it, half the time. Well, she hoped he didn't want to get rid of her. Kalea gently placed her own hand over his, wanting to close her eyes at his touch but instead was lost in his soft ones. A sight she hasn't seen in a while and one of those little miracles that she loved about this boy. "I didn't mean to push the topic." It was her fault, after all, she egged it on. Without thinking, her face gently pressed against his hand. But the topic changed and her breathing was absolutely incapable of being reigned in, so she let out shaky breath, mulling over his kindness.
His gaze was somewhat intimidating, and her heart was hammering in her chest so actually answering made it really hard, "I'm not good, just emotionally invested, I think." She shrugged, but bit her lip. "I'm not a seer though, won't get far even in this field." But her brow raised, trying not to dwell on the very fact that the only job that she honestly cared about and would want to pursue was held away from her for reasons beyond her control. Hell, this was all determined if she actually managed to graduate, but she wasn't going to get into that conversation with Marc. As far as she's concerned, he knew her grades were on track but she struggled with studying. He probably knew more than that, but Kay could hope that at least one person in the school didn't think her entirely stupid. Liam never thought she was, there were other words for it. Terms she didn't want to remember as to why she can't read well or fast and why the letters switch around like crazy. Or why retaining information she reads was so difficult. How some things said to her wouldn't associate to anything and fall flat. No matter how hard she tried to hold onto it. Kay just wanted to be like other people. Get A's and O's, and get jobs straight out of school. But finding something that she would actually be good at was becoming hard as the days approached. "Now you, don't avoid the question again, mister." Be normal, Kay- she thought as she was in such proximity to Marcius and his fantastic eyes that could burn right into her soul if he wanted them to.
